Traffic Commissioner Update

Covid-19 advice

The Covid-19 traffic commissioners’ advice to help operators has a few updates outlined in its Operator Licensing, Local Bus Service Registration and Vocational Driver Conduct Advice for Operators on 6 November 2020.

With regard to temporary Local Bus Service Registrations, short notice temporary variations will still be allowed after 4 January 2021. If an operator wants to make a change from this date, they will have to pay the £60 registration fee. This advice will be reviewed on 1 March 2021.

The TC’s updated advice also includes guidance about when a vehicle is off the road in lockdown for maintenance (Q7). It also recognises the extension of the furlough scheme until 31 March 2021.

The Senior Traffic Commissioner’s Statutory Document No. 2 – Finance was also updated earlier this month. The main update is that from January 2021 the financial standing level will be £8,200 for the first vehicle (up from £8,000) and £4,550 for each vehicle thereafter (up from £4,450).
